Tie A Yellow Ribbon Round The Ole Oak Tree

Hi there Hambo friends!! It is a beautiful wintery, cold but sunny day here in Yorkshire, England, crisp and clean...love it.!! enough of the weather update!!... I am here to tell you about my latest card, inspired by the 1973 hit record "Tie a yellow ribbon round the ole oak tree", a hit for Dawn, featuring Tony Orlando. I actually made this card a while ago using the TREES digi image with the lyrics of the song as a background, but didn't know if I was infringing any copyright laws or something like that, so I altered it, in hindsight..(a wonderful thing!!) I would have kept the lyrics background and softened it with some watered down white acrylic paint to make it less obvious.

The origin of the idea of a yellow ribbon as remembrance may have been the 19th century practice that some women allegedly had of wearing a yellow ribbon in their hair to signify their devotion to a husband serving in the U.S. cavalry, so the symbol of a yellow ribbon became widely known as a reminder that an absent loved one, either in the military or in jail would be welcomed home on their return. So I am dedicating this card to Deborah who has found that her husband is due home from the Army after a years absence.
