A Wee Turkey

Today is the 5th Wednesday of the month, so we will have a regular Bacon Bits post, and then the new challenge and winners of the Baby-Themed Challenge will be revealed November 6!

Happy Hump Day!

Are you ready for Halloween tomorrow? For those of you who have kids, will you be trick or treating? I usually partake in this holiday with my kids, but this year, we have agreed to stay in, with the lights off and watch a movie together.  There are a couple of reasons for it - one, the boys now have braces and really can't enjoy the usual candies and already don't like the others, two, it is suppose to rain, and finally, we just want to do something completely different! :) How will you be spending the holiday?

Speaking of different, I am going to jump completely over Halloween and bring to you a creation for the next holiday in line - Thanksgiving.  Now, here's a holiday I love! Who doesn't? There is something so warm and cozy about Thanksgiving, don't you think?
I used Wee Henry Turkey for the main image and I just think he is the cutest!! He is colored in with Copics and cut out using a bookplate die.  He is then popped up over some fun paper by Little Yellow Bicycle's Acorn Hollow collection and coordinating stick pin.  I used a flourish die I had for an extra accent along with some metal gold dots and sheer ribbon.

Check out the funny Thanksgiving sentiments here  along with a darling Turkey image.  Thanks for stopping in for some Hoedown inspiration!

9 MONTHS INSIDE!!

The last two weeks of the Hambo Hoedown Challenge have been about making a non-traditional baby card, so I thought I would show you another one that I have made. I have loved doing these cards... maybe it has some connection with me about to become a Grandma at around Christmas time! I have loved seeing the different versions that people have made for the challenge. I have used the PIG INMATE digi image for my card.

Here is the inside!! I love it and am thinking about using it as a birth announcement card when my Grandson is born. P.S... Ashley is my son, the expectant father.

Tomorrow is the 5th Wednesday of the month, so we will have a regular Bacon Bits post, and then the new challenge and winners of the Baby-Themed Challenge will be revealed November 6!

Happy Hanukkah!!

This is Juliana, and I love digital stamps for holidays!

They are practical if you only need to send out a just couple of cards for a holiday. (just as practical for huge list, too)

Also, they are great for resizing to make place cards, gift tags, or other holiday decorations.

Today I have a Hanukkah (Chanukah) card to share with you today, featuring "Dreidel Bears":
Hanukkah is early this year.  It starts the evening of November 27th.

I have a long list of nieces and nephews that would get a kick out of this image!

Have you started your holiday cards, yet?

Fall Flowers

Hi Friends!  Kendra here today with a pretty fall card to share.  I LOVE coloring flowers and these cute little daisies were just begging to be filled in with a few autumn colors.  I used the Flowers digital image and colored in the images with my alcohol ink markers.  I added the sentiment from the rubber image called Best Buds. The bottom border is embossed with the polka dot embossing folder.

I also played along on the Hope You Can Cling To Challenge for October 22nd ~ Flowers.   (HYCCT1322). Play along all month long for chances to win great prizes (like Hambo Stamps image ~ wink, wink)!

Eye Love Halloween!

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays… It's a day when you can talk to strangers and they give you candy!! How awesome is that?

My cousin and I started a tradition many years ago at a Ga/Fla weekend (college football event lasting 4-5 days)... much like exchanging gifts for Christmas, we started bringing each other fun Halloween gifts, and it stuck (her children are part of the fun now).
gifts

mummy 2This year I made some really fun surprises, sewed up little gift bags ,and made tags for each bag using some of Hambo’s P-R-E-C-I-O-U-S, precious digis – Mummy and One-Eyed Monster.

I don't often make tags, but how cute are these!? They totally make the package complete don't you think?

Now it's your turn! Check out all the fun Halloween Digis or Halloween rubber stamps Hambo has and make some spooktacular tags for those special kiddies (of all ages) in your life.

P.S. and by the way... don't forget to look for Monsters throughout the site. Hambo has them for Valentine's Birthdays, etc... all you need to do is color them right, and choose an appropriate sentiment and they can be for anything!

I hope you have a great Halloween full of TREATS!

Oh Bailey...You DEVIL!!

Hi there Hambo friends! Jane here to show you a couple of cards I have made recently. First...I just love seeing what the challenge is for that day at Splitcoaststampers, Monday's challenges are "Try a New Technique" and "CAS", so I decided to go with the Clean and Simple challenge where the title this week is "Candy and/or Costumes". So I got to work on this cute little digi image called BAILEY DEVIL. Bailey is based on the Golden Labrador who belongs to Monica, the owner of Hambo Stamps. He looks such a cutie all dressed up in his devil outfit for Halloween.
Secondly, I want to show you this card that I made for the current Hoedown challenge which is  is to make a NON TRADITIONAL BABY CARD!!!!......Fan-tas-tic!!! When I saw what the theme was, I thought "Bring it on!!" Give us more of these whacky challenges that get the old grey matter working!  I love a challenge that forces you to think outside the box, something different instead of the normal cutesy baby cards...L.O.V.E it!!

It didn't actually take me too long to decide what I was going to do for this theme, because as I was looking through my collection of Hambo Stamps images I saw the DR NEEDLE digi image and it got me thinking of one of my clients who is about to undertake I.V.F treatment. I can appreciate that this journey is a worrying and stressful time for those involved,  but I couldn't help giggling at the idea of this image on a "Good Luck with your I.V.F" card. I know that Kay is the kind of girl who is up for a laugh, and I am sure this card will make her giggle too.
You NEED to see all the other fantastic samples of non traditional baby cards that my Hambo design team mates have come up with, each one very different and all ah-may-zing!! seriously!!... and hopefully you will join in with the challenge too I can't wait to see what ideas you have. Come back tomorrow and see another one of my non-traditional baby card creations!!

Hello!  Hambo friends and followers.  So glad you could all join me today for a little Halloween fun with Bailey.  Now I know my version of Bailey looks nothing like the real Bailey.  I have to pattern mine after my Black Lab, Buck.  I have to say, this little "devil" is totally my Buck.  He is so mischievous, thinks he is human, wants to be in the middle of everything.  If you have to have this adorable Halloween Bailey Devil, click here.
Love this Gingham bow!
The ribbon is from Really Reasonable Ribbon.
Don't forget our current Hoedown Challenge

Pocket Full Of Love!

Hambo is once again a sponsor of the SCS "Hope You Can Cling To" campaign, running through October. For today's post, I decided to play along with one of these challenges - HYCCT1316. The Challenge was to:
  • Create a pocket card, or a card with a pocket on it.
  • Bonus 1:  To fill the pocket with hope, add a star or stars OR a heart or  hearts.
  • Bonus 2:  Make it  orange (leukemia)  or  pink (breast cancer)
Hambo Love

For my card, I used Heart Basket a Hambo digital image. It is a sweet and simple image with a straight forward message - "Sending all my love". It truly makes me smile!

As the challenge called for a pocket, I made a twisted card. I used lots of pink for breast cancer awareness and I punched out various hearts and dropped them into the inside pocket. This technique creates a pocket on both the outside and inside of the card. I sealed the outside pocket. When the lucky recipient opens the card, it they will find a pocket full of love. Challenge met!

This is such a fun card to make! Get the tutorial here.

Note: For this card base, use a general (not luxury) cardstock or it else it will be too bulky.

Thanks for stopping by!

Lyn

Supplies used for this card:
  1. Stamp: Heart Basket digital by Hambo Stamps
  2. Paper
    • Pink cardstock by Recollections
    • Designer Paper - Spring Fling by DCWV
