Craft with Kraft!

Welcome to the Hambo Hoedown!

Our Hoedown Challenge is a twice-a-month challenge, on the first and third Wednesdays of each month. Participants can use ANY image to play along, as long as the challenge requirement is met. So that means more time to play and create something fantastic to share!

Two winners will be chosen from each challenge, Best in Show, and a random Queen of the Hoedown. Those winners will each receive a Hambo digital image as their prize, as well as a fun badge for their blogs.

We had a lot of fun making our bookmarks the last two weeks, and we hope our winners did too!

Our Best in Show for the Bookmark Challenge goes to...

We loved her embossing and snow drifts!
The trophy is yours, Gail!

 This week's randomly drawn

Our Bacon Bits DT members created some beautiful samples for you today that I know will inspire you!

First up is Guest Designer Bev Gerard with Snowman Bird. I love the pop of red down the side with her sentiment. So festive and pretty!

Next is Lyn's cute Bailey Christmas. That embossed background reminds me of a warm sweater!

Deborah's Penguin Snowball is all decked out in a bright, festive green and I love those button snowflakes!

That gingham ribbon just pops on Kendra's cute Bailey Christmas:

Jane's Snowman Bird is in for a snowy day (love her fussy cutting!):

Forever Hambo Friends!!

This week is the start of a new challenge here at the Hambo Hoedown. The challenge is to make a winter bookmark. For my project I used the SNOWMAN BIRD digi image on one side, and the BOOKMARK-DISCLAIMER digi image on the flip side. I decided to do my own background for this, as I am really getting into my acrylic paint effects at the moment. They are great to do background papers because they are so opaque. If you don't like one bit, you just paint over it. Sooooo much fun and quite therapeutic!! Here is how my bookmark turned out...
I painted my background on a sheet of A4 paper, left it to dry, put it through the printer to print the bookmark disclaimer, then cut it to my desired shape, fussy cut the Snowman Bird image then stuck him on -- along with a couple of die cut snowflakes. Here is a quick demo on how I achieved the background with my acrylics....

I started off by sponging Docrafts Lagoon acrylic paint onto my cardstock with some cut 'n dry foam.

Then I added some baby blue, blending it into the lagoon as I went down. I then sponged some white on the top and bottom, again blending lightly as the colors merged.

Next I stamped the TINY SNOWFLAKE with the pearl ice blue paint.

And finally gave it a spritz and a couple of flicks with the white paint.

So go ahead and join in the bookmark challenge!! It is so much fun and there are prizes up for grabs!! I look forward to seeing all your fabulous creations....Jane

Sunday, December 1, 2013

Hello there and Happy Sunday to you!  Today I thought I'd use one of the Winter digital stamps called Snowman/Bird, with the sentiment from the Calculator set, and I hope I've inspired you to get your seasonal mojo moving! Don't forget about the Christmas digital's and Christmas rubber stamps as well.  Need some stocking stuffers?  Don't forget about the Clear Stamp Sets, I think they are perfect for any crafty friend!

There are always those special people on our list that deserve a card to remind them of how special they are to us, and that is what I hope today's card will be.

I may live in Arizona now, but growing up in Wisconsin we made lots and lots of snowmen, and I remember it well!

This has been a great weekend to kick start my holiday cardmaking, and I even did a little bit of shopping. I hope it has been a creative one for you too!

Peace & Luv,
Jeannie ~ Hambo Design Team Member
